Kota Dosa presents the new folk sound of Simeon Allocco, with his debut album releasing February 28th. Across thirteen songs, Religion When I Die paints a vivid and visceral American landscape, taking the listener from the serpentine rocks of the Siskiyou mountains to the bustling AmTrak stations of the Northeast. The project is as much an album of introspection as it is a piece in motion, paying a contemporary homage to the tradition of folk music with unfaltering authenticity, emotion, and reverence.

Produced by Olly de la Mare, Religion When I Die explores a considered range of instrumentation and recording styles, building on a foundational sound of intimate and analog clawhammer banjo. Whether backed by a band of strings, keys, and steel, or accompanied by only a tape machine, Simeon's songwriting sits at the center of this album. His words reflect an earnest passion for storytelling, a deep respect for history, and an uncanny understanding of the human experience. Alongside the album, a sixteen-page lyric book has been designed by Patrick Finn, for a closer view into the world Simeon has built with these songs.

Simeon is currently based in New Orleans, writing his next project, and performing with the Kota Dosa Collective. Born in North Carolina between the calm of two hurricanes, Simeon has rambled around the United States ever since. Spending his teenage years in NYC's West Village, and early twenties off-grid in Southern Oregon, Simeon is equally at ease in city hustle as he is a hundred miles from the nearest town. Bound by an appetite for adventure, a lifetime of wandering has amassed Simeon a personal lore too wild to recount in a press release, but what can be said is; you'll always find him with his banjo and a smile.
